Anonymous: (different anon) my boyfriend is both Russian and Ukrainian, he was raised in St. Petersburg and attended university in Kiev and he considers Ukraine + Russia the same as well, besides some people speaking Ukrainian to him when he travels to the Lviv area, i wasn't aware that there was a substantial difference at all? oh, we both live in London now, i'm British :)
I don’t say we’re alike like idk choose two countries but…we’re not the same. It’s two different countries. It’s arrogant to say that we’re the same.
Yes, we share a lot of history together, a lot of traditions, our languages are rather similar, but we’re not same country. I wish people in Ukraine would understand that too, that Ukraine is independent country on it’s own.
I love Russia, i’ve been to St. Petersburg few times, i speak Russian, i love Russian literature and art, but i would like to define Ukraine without considering Russian.
